Awning Projection: Default is 8' however we recommend 7' projection for all awnings that are going to be mounted at a height of less than 2130mm from the ground. This is to ensure that the awning has sufficient water runoff during rain periods. The roof tapers towards the front to assist with retraction of the awning.  If you require 7' projection, please comment in the box when ordering.

Awning Size: We measure the awning size as the length of the roof, the cassette is 165mm longer than the roof overall, so please take this into consideration when ordering your awning. If you are unsure of what size would be suitable for your van, please comment in the box when ordering and we will ring you to discuss the best option.

If you require custom sizing, please comment in the text box when ordering and specify whether the measurement you have provided is overall cassette length required or awning roof length.

It is okay for the awning to project past the end of the van by a small amount provided it is properly installed. Metal plates can be manufactured to fill in the small gap created.

Mounting Brackets: we have three (3) types of brackets available; pop-top, angle up/down and sail track.

The pop-top bracket is designed specifically for pop-top caravans and you should select this option if this is the type of van/vehicle that you have.  It works by lifting the cassette both up and out so that the awning does not foul up the pop-top mechanism of your van. Nutserts ensure that the cassette attaches to the bracket neatly and securely.

Angle Up/Down bracket is designed for use at the top of the van/vehicle. When installed facing downwards, the awning is in line with the roof of the van/vehicle.  When installed facing upwards, the awning sits up above the line of the roof - this can be necessary to avoid obstacles like lights installed on the side of the van/vehicle.  This is also the bracket to choose if you are mounting your awning to a set of roof racks on a 4WD.

Sailtrack is designed to mount the awning to the side of your van/vehicle, the mounting surface should be flat and clear of all obstacles.

  1. Great Awning review by ABT on 13/09/2018

I bought the Coolibah awning for my Jayco Flamingo Camper. It was bought to replace the original Bag Awning generally sold with these campers. The original bag awning could not be stored by one person, it was heavy and required a large number of supporting poles. On a trip around Australia, the Coolibah awning proved its worth not only in the way it could be erected and stored by one person but also in its ability to withstand very windy conditions. During a stay at the Argyle Caravan Park W.A., caravaners were storing their awnings around midnight due to strong winds (above 60kph); I raised my can in salute and went to bed. A great product, when used correctly, and highly recommended for anyone looking for a reliable and easy to use awning.
